Out of the frying pan, into the fire

29 Mar

Previously I mentioned that my life was like a wildfire these days.  Not long after I started the Great Job Hunt of 2009, as it shall hereafter be known, a good friend reminded me about an opportunity I had dreamed about but never really allowed myself to hope for.  Too little time to prepare, too many responsibilities, too many hours to work to pay the bills…too many excuses.  But then it hit me that maybe — maybe — this could be the time. All dolled up and someplace to go

29 Mar

This is no ordinary stay at home with a DVD weekend.  Oh, no.  This is a take-yourself-on-a-date-because-you-deserve-it weekend.  Girls, you’ve worked hard this week.  We both know it.  And quite frankly, April 15 is enough to knock the wind out of anyone’s sails.  So put away your work day/tax day blues, call a girlfriend (or not), and get all dolled up. ‘Can You See Him?’

Does your life ever feel like a wildfire?

29 Mar

Gale force winds hit my house about 2:00 this afternoon.  Not long after that, the grassfires began.  A few hours later areas of Midwest City and Choctaw were being evacuated.  Firefighters from all over the metro were called in to help fight the blaze.  Many people didn’t even have time to get home from work to get their pets out or know where their family members had gone.  All they could do was wait and watch and pray. The importance of Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday, Christianity, Christ's arrival in Jerusalem

Back from church service tonight, I’ve been thinking about something my young nephews said.  Or didn’t say, to be exact.  This morning I asked them if they knew what Palm Sunday was, and they didn’t know.  So we talked a little about why it matters.
